My style is primarily photojournalistic. Weddings are a treasure trove of human emotion. I strive to capture every precious moment. I get to know the bride and groom up-front and adapt my work to their desires and to the unique character of their wedding. In addition to my photojournalistic work, I capture classic family portraits and make a special effort to create glamorous and memorable portraits of the bride and groom.
My work is a mixture of color, black-and-white, sepia, and selective color. Color excels at scenic beauty, black-and-white captures emotion in a magical way, and sepia freezes memories. I employ top-end equipment, meticulous technique, and a strong understanding of lighting to ensure the best possible image quality.
I use Nikon professional cameras and lenses. I bring backup equipment to every wedding. I use natural and available light as much as possible and strobes and lighting modifiers where necessary. I shoot exclusively in raw to capture the best possible images.
I discovered the camera over 20 years ago. Immediately, it ignited my creative passion. Wanting to learn everything I could about photographic technique and artistic possibilities, I began taking classes in black-and-white photography, portraiture, and commercial photography. I entered my first competition after just two years and won Best of Show at the Sonoma County Fair.
In the early days, I used medium-format cameras, dedicated myself to learning lighting technique, developed my own film, and made my own prints. Since then, my work has evolved as I explored and mastered many genres of photography from nature to sports to travel to macro. I have worked with many types of cameras from point-and-shoots to 4x5 view cameras, both film and digital. I now shoot exclusively in digital.
My true passion is people photography. Wedding photography is its purest expression. I love everything about weddings. I love the people, the linens, the flowers, the food, the dresses, and everything that makes each wedding unique. I love the anticipation, the excitement, the celebration, and the joy and love flowing among the wedding party and the guests. I strive to capture every wedding from start to finish and preserve the memories for the couple and the family for years to come.
Let's hope it gets good ones soon!
